I've got the same problem as Dave and Katherine. I'm trying to use SingSnap (online Karaoke) with my MacBook Pro. I can hear the music track from the website in my headphones, but I can't hear my voice. When I record, I hear both the music track and my voice. Any fixes for the Mac? Is it a setting? Another guy I talked to said the only way to do it is with external mixer. Please say it ain't so!

Hey mac guy! I've been recording solo audio on Garage band for a while and only needing the basic functions. However, I haven't figured out yet how to adjust volume on certain sections of the same track. For instance, if my voice "pops" I know how to isolate the section with the "split" function, but have no clue how to adjust the volume only in one section of the track. Advice?

Because the internal mic in the mac won't turn off - it's a combo audio. If you are quiet for a second, the internal mic kicks in, if it ever turned off. Why? NO idea. It's incredibly annoying. Maybe changing the audio midi in the utilities panel can help but I haven't solved the feedback issues I'm getting from that.

So apparently, you have to go around it by using a USB cable audio line if you want a professional audio recording.

I'd add a noise gate to this list too btw. invaluable. good luck

OK so I can't use Garagedoor to work with the MIDI tracks coming out of my Roland GW-8. But all I need to do is a few simple cut and pastes, to make three verse hymns for our church from the two verses that an organist played into it. Does anyone know of a simple program that will let me do a few simple things with MIDI 's and get them back into my keyboard? I use an SD reader in the USB port. Thanks, Garrett Toren garretttor@yahoo.com

I just wanted to say "thanks" for not giving up on the web site after the hack ... similar stuff happened to us, real drag. I appreciate learning about new audio technology here, really nice site! Am trying to teach my kids about music via GB.

Hey guess what... I'm not really bothered by this anymore.

Because I thought of another hack that is less steps and requires no MIDI hardware. It's more of a "life hack" though:

Walk into an Apple store.
Find a Mac with Logic installed.
Discreetly open your GarageBand file in Logic.
Export the MIDI from Logic.
Email the MIDI file to yourself.
